Transgender Day of Remembrance 2016
Trans Alliance Brighton is very pleased to have organised TDoR 2016 at Dorset Gardens Methodist Church in Brighton, on Sunday 20th November this year. After a successful funding application to Sussex Police, the event was able to have the Rainbow Choir perform, and Lunch Positive to cater. Switchboard provided crisis support, and James from Gscene took photos for the magazine.
The Church’s minister Robin spoke, followed the Mayor Pete West, Chief Superintendent Nev Kemp, Hate crime Sergeant & Trans Equality Advocate at Sussex Police, speakers from local trans groups, and some service users of those groups.
In moving forward, Trans Alliance Brighton is keen to engage with people, services, businesses, organisations and groups who are interested in trans awareness training – expanding knowledge, reducing misunderstanding, helping people to provide better service to trans identified people.
Keeping in mind how privileged we are to live in such a safe country, it is the hope that things can be improved, through education and pro-active examples to those around us.
